After years of teasers, demos, and one Guinness world record-breaking shooter event (which we participated in), the wait might finally be over. The Otherside Metaverse by Yuga Labs is no longer just a concept. It’s becoming a reality. And it all begins… in a bathroom.
Yes, seriously.
Let’s explore what’s coming, and why July is shaping up to be one of the most important months in Yuga’s history.
Welcome to the Bathroom Blitz
The first persistent experience in the Otherside Metaverse launches in July. It’s called Bathroom Blitz. The name might sound odd, but it’s deeply tied to BAYC lore. When Bored Ape Yacht Club began, one of its first community perks was access to a shared pixel graffiti bathroom. Now, that very concept is evolving into a fast-paced 8v8 shooter.
In Bathroom Blitz, players shrink to the size of toy soldiers and battle inside the BAYC clubhouse bathroom. It’s chaotic, it’s creative, and it’s loaded with Ape-themed references. From Dookey Dash nods to throwbacks from ApeFest, the game is a mix of nostalgia and new energy.
You can pick up sniper rifles, grapple up walls, or grab an AK. It’s silly, strategic, and reminds some of old-school Counter-Strike or classic mod games like Kitchen Rats. It’s also the first experience to earn you Voyager XP, the Otherside’s in-game progression system.
Bathroom Blitz is being developed by Command Line using the Otherside Development Kit (ODK). According to Yuga Labs, this launch will showcase what small dev teams can achieve with access to powerful tools. The experience will stay online for several weeks, giving players a chance to test, provide feedback, and help shape what comes next.
Yuga wants more than just play. They want building. That’s why they’re putting the same tools they use into the hands of players, creators, and studios. Whether you’re an amateur or a AAA developer, Otherside is opening the doors wide.
Bubbles Are Back – Bigger and Better
July doesn’t end with Bathroom Blitz. Another major feature returns: Meet Me at the (Clubhouse) Bubble. This social hangout will take place in a floating bubble high above Otherside. The last version supported 100 users. Now, it supports 500. That’s five times the fun.
These upgraded Bubbles come with features like direct streaming integration and clickable invite links. Think of them like Twitter Spaces—but in 3D, and way cooler. You and your friends can hang out, chat, float, and vibe as your NFTs.
This feature has been in demand since day one. With this upgrade, Yuga Labs is proving they’re listening to community feedback and delivering improvements.

Outbreak: A Second Always-On Game Launches in August
If shooting in the bathroom wasn’t wild enough, prepare for Outbreak. Coming in August, this is Otherside’s second persistent multiplayer experience. And it’s going viral—literally.
In Outbreak, one player starts infected. Their goal? Infect everyone else. Survivors must dodge, trick, or fight back using boosts and map secrets. It’s fast, chaotic, and designed to push Otherside’s servers to the limit.
This experience will also earn players Voyager XP and help stress-test live operations. Expect a beautifully designed map with hidden stories and clever mechanics. According to Garga, Yuga’s CEO, it’s “pretty fun.”
As if all that weren’t enough, Yuga Labs is rolling out AI-powered building tools. These tools are part of the ODK and powered by a smart agent called Koda Agent.
Now, anyone can build 3D worlds using simple commands. Just type “add trees” or “make the sky orange” and the AI will handle it. No coding needed. This removes a big barrier and opens up Otherside creation to more users.
In addition, 1,000 digital assets from 29 different Biomes will be released to developers. This unlocks more design options and helps creators craft unique worlds inside Otherside.
For casual creators, lighter tools will also be available. You’ll be able to design stickers, emotes, and mini-scenes without using the full dev kit. All while retaining creator rights and earning royalties.
What About the NFTs and ApeChain?
Otherside runs on ApeChain, a blockchain built to support web3 gaming. NFTs are at the heart of this metaverse. Apes, Mutants, Meebits, and Kodas aren’t just collectibles—they’re your in-game characters.
And then there are the Otherdeeds. These NFTs represent virtual land inside the Otherside Metaverse. Some have rare features, while others host characters or resources. Players can explore, build, and trade within this open-world economy.
The current floor of Otherdeeds sits around 0.165 ETH, while Koda’s are traded around 1.4 ETH.
The in-game currency is $APE. It powers transactions like crafting, trading, and in-world upgrades. And since Otherside supports Ethereum token standards, it’s easy to bring in other web3 assets.
No More Otherdeeds – Ever
There’s been a rumor for years: that Yuga Labs would release another 100,000 Otherdeeds. That rumor ends now.
This week, Garga confirmed there will be no extra Otherdeeds. The 100,000 currently in circulation are it. No more will ever be created. This news puts an end to years of speculation and adds scarcity to these land NFTs.
If you own one, consider it a piece of digital real estate history.
Why This All Matters
The Otherside Metaverse is finally taking shape. For too long, it was just tech demos and trailers. Now, we’re seeing real gameplay. We’re getting persistent experiences. We can finally meet friends in social spaces. We’re watching Otherside turn into a living, breathing world.
Bathroom Blitz is just the start. With Outbreak, AI tools, and community events on the way, Yuga Labs is unlocking a new era in web3 gaming.
They’re not just building a metaverse—they’re giving everyone the tools to build it with them.
Final Thoughts
The Otherside Metaverse feels more real than ever. July will mark a major shift—from promise to playable. Whether you’re a builder, collector, or gamer, there’s something here for you.
Jump into the bathroom. Float up in a Bubble. Survive the Outbreak. And keep your eyes on the horizon—because Otherside is just getting started.
